FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who do I work with ?

I currently work with adults wishing to live a life free from trauma.

Cost and duration of the session ?

Each hypnotherapy session is an hour long and is priced at £70.

How many sessions do I need?

A majority of my clients notice positive changes from the very first session, with an impactful change usually developing over 3 to 6 sessions.

How much will I have to talk about 'what happened', 'the past' ?

While the past may be part of the story, we don't linger there. With hypnotherapy, especially solution-focused hypnotherapy, you don’t need to relive or go into detail about painful events. The focus is on what you want to change and how you want to feel going forward. You may briefly mention past experiences to provide context, but most of the work is about creating positive change, and building the future you want.

What will the hypnosis be like ?

Hypnosis is a natural state we all experience every day, like when we’re fully focused on a task, completely absorbed in something we love, or get lost in thought. Even intense emotions, such as anger, depression, excessive rumination, can create a trance-like states in our mind.

Will I talk during the hypnosis ?

You won’t need to talk during the hypnosis. You remain fully aware and in control, listening while your mind and body relaxes and focuses. After the hypnosis, there is time in the session to share your thoughts and experience.

Is it possible to hypnotise someone to forget an event/memory ?

No, hypnosis cannot make you forget a person or erase a memory. What it can do is change the way your mind and body respond to that memory. Through hypnotherapy, the brain’s emotional center, the amygdala can become calmer, which helps reduce the intensity of painful memories. Hypnosis also supports neuroplasticity, the brain’s natural ability to create new pathways, so you will reframe the past, and strengthen healthier thought patterns.

Benefits of hypnotherapy for trauma ?

Calms the fight-or-flight response -Trauma often activates the amygdala, your brain's 'alarm system'. Hypnotherapy helps calm this response, gently allowing your brain to feel safe and relaxed to process negative experiences and move forward.

Supports neuroplasticity for new thought patterns - Hypnotherapy taps into the brain’s neuroplasticity, the ability to form new neural pathways. By focusing on positive goals and outcomes, we’re essentially 'rewiring' the brain to adopt healthier responses and perspectives. This process helps shift how you think, feel, and react.

Provides a safe, non-invasive approach to trauma processing - During our sessions, we do not re-live trauma, but instead focuses on your strengths, goals and future. This makes it a gentle yet effective path for change and healing.

Shifts focus to personal strengths and encourages personal agency and empowerment - Sessions also involve recognizing and building on existing strengths (even if right now you may not see your strengths clearly). The focus is on what works for you, enhancing your sense of control and removing a reliance on our sessions.

I don't want to be judged

As a solution-focused hypnotherapist, my role is to provide a safe, open, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I won't push you to share anything you’re uncomfortable with, what matters is getting you to where you want to be, while feeling safe, relaxed and supported.
